I'm a writer of dark/mythic/lyrical trance fiction...and a computer programmer. I think I started to get seriously into both when I was about 8 or 9. I compose music as well, (at which I don't suck but nor am I anything brilliant :P), and every now & then I even get the urge to draw (meh ^^;).
Apart from the programming runs, I've also worked as an audio engineer doing front of house for a number of Melbourne venues during the mid 90s, as a graphic designer, and as a Certified Apple Sales rep, but nowadays I'm working on Lost Violet Press, a micro indie fiction publisher, still in its infancy. Born in Ballarat, found my voice on the edge of a razorblade in Melbourne; these days I reside in a place that is dubiously renowned for being the most boring city in the world.

As for the stories...
they've been described as dark, poetic, beautiful & depressing.
(Occasionally 'crap' too, but you can't please everyone ;p)
There's not a lot of
wham!bam!thankyouma'am
action, and the focus rests on the baring of a character's essence and personal mythos, usually from a very intimate/claustrophobic viewpoint.

Writing-wise, I've released one novel into the wilds thus far,
Trapdoor, a dark love story.

~*~ Trapdoor: a novel by Vixen Phillips ~ E-book Version Now Available ~*~

Current works-in-progress:

Subtransience: a lyrical trance biopunk/steampunk/retro aestheticism novel

~*~ Subtransience: by Vixen Phillips ~*~

The Amorpheum Key: a steampunk slash novel

~*~ The Amorpheum Key: by Vixen Phillips ~*~

Lorelei: a dream serial

"Go down into hell, if you must, but bring me back a rose..." (lilimist)
"If I lose the light of the sun, I will write by candelight, moonlight, no light. If I lose paper and ink, I will write in blood on forgotten walls. I will always write. I will capture nights all over the world and bring them to you." (Henry Rollins)
"If you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don't write, because our culture has no use for it." (Anais Nin)
"Love your solitude and try to sing out with the pain it causes you." (Rilke)
"The ability to dream is a divine and mysterious ability; because it is through dreams that man communicates with the shadowy world which surrounds him. But this power needs solitude to develop freely; the more one concentrates, the more one is likely to dream fully, deeply." (Baudelaire)
